On this Friday I am dreaming of escaping to somewhere warm and sunny near the water and – wait, I live in LA – so somewhere else warm and sunny by the sea.
I keep looking at this hotel in Split, Croatia. It is within the walls of Diocletian’s Palace. Which is an awesome place where people moved into a Roman palace after the fall of the empire and just started living there. In the Hotel Vestibul each room shares at least part of a wall built by Diocletian.
Taking an ancient building and updating it into a contemporary hotel is extremely difficult to do well. This might not be my personal taste, but they did a great job.
I could get some reading done there for sure.
