Sleeping in the Treetops

Posted by on October 13, 2011

One of the very first movies on video that my family owned when I was growing up was “The Swiss Family Robinson.”  I loved the treehouse.  When I was 22 and finally went to Disney World (deprived I know) the treehouse there was one of my favorite parts.  Incidentally, now the Swiss Family Robinson (SFR) treehouse is the Tarzan treehouse?  How? Why? It makes me sad…

BUT!  In Jiangsu, China there is a hotel to make all your treehouse dreams come true.  One of the treehouses looks amazingly like the SFR home, and you get there by crossing a rope and plank suspension bridge!

They are pretty rustic accommodations, more along the lines of “glamping” than luxury.  The shower is a bit of a hike from the rooms, but they do have electricity!  And you get to wake up in the treetops with a view of the South China Sea and a white sand beach…
