The Books 2011

Posted by on February 19, 2012

I decided to make Sundays my list/personal day here at Design Flourishes

On my Life List #24 is to read 40 books a year, every year. Last year I just made it under the wire.

There is some internal debate as to what constitutes a “book.” A long difficult book takes a lot more time to read than a short easy one… I decided to count short, Young Adult books as either 1/2 or 2/3 of a book, but longer YA books count as a whole book. I decide how to count each one individually. I count a book even if  it is a re-read, but I have to have actually re-read the whole thing. It’s my list, and my goal, so I can do that. This list is unedited, even though I am embarrassed about some of them.

The Books:

Reflections:

There is quite a bit more Science Fiction/Fantasy than I realized and quite a bit less re-reading than I thought. The only re-reads are Girl, Many Waters, White House Autumn and In a Sunburned Country. I was completely engulfed in The Hunger Games trilogy, but was very disappointed with the final book. I was more disturbed by the genetically mutated creatures than by the battle descriptions.

I am only on book four of 2012…
