The Illusion of Infinity

Posted by on February 11, 2012

At the Tate Modern this spring there is a retrospective for Yayoi Kusama. One of the highlights is an “Infinity Room” with mirrors on all surfaces and pinpoints of light that shift through the color spectrum. It looks pretty amazing, but the experience seems hard to capture in a flat image. Walking through the room is supposed to feel like being suspended in space.  I wonder how disorienting it is, can you really trick your brain into believing the room has no boundaries?
