Last week, I took my car in for a 25,000 mile service and ended up with four new tires. Why am I always surprised when what I thought was just an oil change ends up costing hundreds of dollars? It happens almost every time.
I have no idea where my old tires really ended up; they were “recycled” I hope that means they will be made into new tires. When I was smarting from the unexpected expense I came across this series of a much better form of tire recycling.
Wim Delvoye takes old tires and hand carves them into amazing works of art. The detail is staggering.
Delvoye is a Belgian artist who works in many different media.
