Feathery Chandeliers

One of the great/terrible parts of being an art or design student are those projects that you stay up and work on all night. It’s even better/worse when its a group project and you are staying up with a bunch of other students. Sometime the end result is more amazing than any one of you would have been able to come up with on your own.

These antique chandeliers were festooned with mop heads by first year students at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm Sweden.  The twelve students had a limited budget and a short amount of time. They ended up staying up for 24 hours to finish the installation. When you have significant constraints a fabulous finished product is just all the sweeter.

Their work is super inspiring, and they look like they had a good time too…

The installation was part of Stockholm Design fair last year (2011) and was in the Berns Hotel Salon.
